We Love Dawn Blog Hop

So I've been following Papertrey Ink's blog for quite some time now. They have a wonderful design team and one of my favorite designers is Dawn McVey.  She features beautiful cards on her blog and is always so cheerful.  She's been struggling with health issues for a few years and recently had a small intestine transplant.  She's now recovering from that surgery and over at Nichole's blog, they're having a blog hop in Dawn's honor.

I made this card for the blog hop:

Although it doesn't feature any of Dawn's stamp sets, I just wanted to make a pretty card to cheer her up and let her know my thoughts are with her. For my card, I used a frame from the Pretty Peonies stamp set which was the 2012 anniversary set, one of my favorite anniversary sets.  Dawn featured this set on her blog here.  I stamped the frame in gray ink and die cut it.  Although the stamp set is no longer available, you can still purchase the Pretty Peonies die collection. I used a sentiment from the Sending You stamp set and unfortunately, this one's no longer available either. I blended some Abandon Coral Distress Oxide Ink around the edges of the sentiment to match the color of some of the flowers and placed this inside of the gray frame. I stamped some flowers and leaves from the Altenew Winter Rose stamp set and hand cut them. I added a piece of pattern paper from an old My Mind's Eye paper pad that I had in my stash on a white cardstock base. For my white cardstock bases, I always use Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110 lb cardstock. It's heavy cardstock and a lot more sturdier.  Then I placed the sentiment frame in the middle and assembled the flowers and leaves around the sentiment with some double sided foam tape.  Love how it turned out and I hope Dawn will like it too!  Check out all the other cards from talented stampers on the blog hop.  I had a great time making this card. Thanks for stopping in!

  2. Your rose and coral flowers look very cheerful on that gray patterned background, and the oval fits the arrangement beautifully. Such a pretty card for Dawn!
