Make It Monday #302 Twine & Ribbon Wraps

Happy November everyone!  It's Make It Monday time at Papertrey Ink.  For this week's MIM, Stephanie shows us how to use twine and ribbon in a different way.  I never thought about using it to wrap around a frame.  I usually just use twine and ribbon to tie into a knot or make bows, but I was excited to try this out.

Stephanie's card:
My take on her inspiration:

I made my card with a variety of things. I used my Year of Flowers: Poinsettias stamp set.  I've had this set for a couple of years now and love to pull it out during the holiday season.  I stamped the large poinsettia image once on watercolor paper with Versamark ink and stamped the smaller poinsettia image twice on watercolor paper as well.  I heat embossed them with WOW Gold Rich Pale Embossing Powder. Then I watercolored the images with my Sakura Koi Watercolor Sketch Box.  I cut out the images.  I chose not to die cut them because I wanted to cut right next to the embossing outline.  I stamped and die cut the leaf images from my Altenew Fantasy Floral stamp set with Stampin Up Pear Pizzazz ink and Garden Green ink. For the background, I made a frame from To the Point Edgers II Die.  I die cut the edger die on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 white cardstock.  Then used my paper cutter to cut out the frame on the straight edges.  I cut about 1/4 inch inside of the paper.  I traced the edger die about a 1/4 inch on top of the die cut edge and cut it out with scissors.  Then I wrapped red and white Hemptique Baker's Twine around the frame. (I like things neat and precise so I ended up putting double sided tape behind the frame so it was easier to adhere the twine the way I wanted it to lay on the card.)  I used Gold Shimmer cardstock behind the frame and stamped the sentiment "Wishing You a Warm & Cozy Christmas" from Vintage Ornaments II stamp set.  I adhered the poinsettias and leaves on top and placed everything on a red cardstock base.

Hope you enjoyed my card today!  Stop in again and have a great day!
